Why should we select Double Trouble? Experience and the ability to read a crowd is the key to a professional DJ. Good DJ’s have a natural talent to be able to read a crowd and make sure the music flows smoothly to keep the dance floor full. We believe that a DJ should not be there to play music that he or she only wants to hear, which unfortunately, is the case with many DJ companies. We believe that we are there to play the music that our clients and their guests prefer, that we are there to cater to the crowd not ourselves. We’re very good at what we do and you will not be disappointed with the things that we can do for you.
How early should we book your services? Simply put…the sooner the better. Popular dates often book as early as a year in advance. Typically, clients book our service 6-9 months in advance but as mentioned, the earlier the better to assure you get the date you desire.
Do you offer a contract? Absolutely, we require it. Our written contract is straightforward and in easy to understand terms. It is signed by both parties to ensure the commitment and dependability of both parties. The Reservation Fee and signed contract officially reserve your date. A receipt for your Reservation Fee along with a copy of the signed contract will be returned to you as confirmation.
*IMPORTANT.....Never return a contract and Reservation Fee without confirming the date is available.
How much is the Reservation Fee and when is the balance due? We require a $100.00 Reservation Fee (non-refundable) with the signed contract to reserve your date. Balance due can be paid anytime up to the day of, but no later than, the day of the event. The reservation fee IS applied to the total amount due.
Are your rates negotiable? We feel that we charge a reasonable rate for our professional performance. We are confident you will find our prices competitive and reasonable. In some cases, there may be reasons to justify a lower cost, but we must cover the business overhead and earn a reasonable fee for the services rendered.

We are currently working on a video that can be viewed right on the website. Please keep checking with us for more details.
Can we meet with our DJ before the event? Double Trouble offers unlimited consultations whether it is over the phone or in person. We will talk with you and meet with you as many times as needed to make sure your comfortable with the decisions you’ve made for the event. Typically, most planning can be done over the phone, but we do like to meet with our clients at least twice to get a better feel for who they are and how they want their event to go. Once for the initial consultation and then again a couple weeks before the reception To fine tune the itinerary and special request.
Can we requests songs and types of music we want played or not played at our party? Definitely! In pre-event planning, we will discuss the types of music you want to hear during the event. First and foremost, it’s your day and we play what you want to hear. Obviously we can’t play every song requested because of the different tastes of your guests, but we try to work in as many of your requests as possible. Even the night of your event, if a song comes to mind you’d like to hear, let us know and it will be playing as soon as we can get it in. If there are songs that you do not want played, we will honor those wishes as well.
Do you take requests from our guests? We gladly take requests from your guests throughout the event. We have catalogs available for your guests to look through, as well as request sheets to fill out. We do our best to play the music your guest’s request, but often we have more requests than we do time. We monitor the requests closely and we reserve the right to refuse requests that are inappropriate or unsuitable for the event.
What if we want a song that you don’t have? If after looking through our catalog and not finding a particular song, if you give us at least a weeks notice, we can generally find anything you would like. Be sure to check with us, because our catalog gets updated weekly. Otherwise, we are more than happy to play songs off of CD’s provided by you or your guests. We just ask for a little information of what style the songs are so that we know when to work it in. We are not responsible for damaged or poor quality CD’s that are given to us.
What type of attire do the DJ’s wear? Your DJ will be appropriately attired for the type of event at hand. You determine by the type of event what you would like us to wear. We have four different types of dress styles.
Formal Events: Tuxedo clothing with vests and matching ties. Casual Dressy: Business polo with dress pants. Casual: Business polo with shorts or blue jeans. Theme: We will dress to whatever theme you are having. (For Example: Country Western, Hawaiian/Luau, Halloween costumes, Mardi Gras…etc)
What time do you set up? Is there any charge for setup or tear down? Depending on the location and layout, we will generally be on site at least one hour before your first guest arrives. This allows us ample time to set up and do a sound check in the location. We feel it is very unprofessional to set up in front of guests or while they arrive. This will only happen if there are no other options available for an earlier set up. You will never be charged for any time that we spend setting up or tearing down. This is our time to ensure we are ready to go when you are.
What kind of equipment do you use and do you have backup equipment? We use top of the line equipment made by the leaders in the DJ industry. We will gladly give you a list of equipment upon request. In the event that something should happen, backup equipment is readily available with minimal downtime.
Should we provide a meal for the DJ’s? Many DJ companies have it built into their contract that they must be fed, but not Double Trouble. This is your option and by no means expected. For a normal 4 hour event, we will be onsite for almost 8 hours, including set-up and tear-down. Should you choose to provide a meal for us, the convenience is greatly appreciated. If you do plan to provide us a meal, we ask that you please let us know in advance so that other arrangements are not made. Depending on the type of meal, we have no problem eating right behind our equipment. If you will be seating us, we ask that we be seated as close to our equipment as possible. Even when we are eating, we need to keep an eye on song selections and volume levels
Do you take breaks? No, this is one of the biggest advantages of hiring a DJ as opposed to a band. We provide two professional DJ’s throughout the evening to guarantee seamless transitions from one song to the next.
Will you work overtime? Under most circumstances, we are available to continue playing as long as the venue permits. We will never stop playing just because the contract says so. We will always check with you about a half hour from the scheduled stop time to see if you would like us to continue. The standard rate will apply. Only under extreme circumstances will we not play extended hours.
Is tipping/gratuity appropriate? Tipping / gratuity is not mandatory nor expected. We charge a reasonable rate for our services and tipping is completely left to the discretion of our clients. Some clients and guests occasionally tip should they feel we have exceeded their expectations. Tips will be accepted graciously as the highest compliment from a satisfied client or guests.
Do you have a preference on setup locations? As mentioned, with Double Trouble, you get everything we have to offer, which means lots of lights and effects. Ideally for the best visual performance, we need to be set up as close to the dance floor as possible. The further we are from the dance floor, the less effective we will be.
